Rahul and Sarah currently live in Long Beach, California, where they share their passion for food, politics, music, and conversation. Engagement Rahul and Sarah’s Engagement Puja took place on January 1, 2005, in the Iyers’ residence in San Jose. Both the Iyer and Dudzic/Woletz families enjoyed the opportunity to get to know each other better, and to share the joy of Rahul and Sarah’s engagement with friends and family. Click here to see Sarah and Rahul's engagement pictures. Who Rahul Is Rahul was born in Hayward, California on July 19th, 1978 to Sushila and Bala Iyer. While born early, he was a late walker, a late talker, a late reader, but a good feeder; so he got chubby quickly. Successfully navigating the treacherous waters of adolescence with guidance from his parents, trailblazing from his brother Ravi, and a little help from his friends, he made it through highschool. With great interest in public policy, sociology, and engineering, off to university he went. Fueled by a passion for sustainable development discovered in highschool, he finished college and pursued the next 10 year plan moving to Long Beach with friend and business partner, Brook. With a schedule filled with fostering the new business, political ambitions, staying fit, keeping the rock-star dream alive, and peppered with beach parties, Rahul likes to stay busy. Currently in the the fifth year of this ten-year plan, Rahul works for Intelligent Energy Holdings, developing exciting new energy technologies and businesses for OECD and developing economies.
Who Sarah Is Sarah was born on May 18th, 1980, in Bronx, New York. She grew up primarily in Englewood, New Jersey, where her parents worked hard to instill within her the values of social justice, hard work, creativity, humor, and of course, eating well. She graduated from Bard College in 2001, with a Bachelor’s Degree in creative writing and theatre. She moved to California to pursue her passion for music in October of 2002. She currently sings with the Long Beach Chorale and the Orange County Women’s Chorus, and is working to begin a new project with Guitarist (and friend) Scott Landes. She has recently completed a Domestic Violence counselor training, and is planning to begin work with the WomenShelter of Long Beach’s outreach program shortly.
How We Met In January of 2003, Sarah’s then-band, Babalon, put out an advertisement seeking a drummer. They certainly got more than they asked for when Rahul arrived, enormous kit in tow. Though the band is no more, Rahul and Sarah will be making music together for many years to come. |
